In my line of work as a leadership coach, I find it interesting how many times I have heard clients say, "To function in my profession and workplace, I have to hide my spiritual side." If you can relate to this, then listen up. After all, you are a multi faucet being with depth. Your spiritual side is part of the richness of who you are at core level.
Most people spend most of their waking hours at work. If you are a spiritual person, it only makes sense that you would want to integrate your spiritual principles and way of being into your work life.
Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. As a spiritual person, there is the fear of having your professional reputation damaged by someone who has a conservative viewpoint.
However, there are plenty of ways you can remain professional while still staying true to your values and spirituality in the workplace.
Here are Three quick tips for integrating your spiritual side into your professional life:
1. Conduct yourself according to your value
Part of being spiritual is holding true to your values. So, what are your values? Consider how you are respecting or disrespecting your values in your professional life and in the workplace. Then start incorporating your values in your work.
2. Conscious Communication
Through conscious communication, relationships can be fostered and nurtured. Consider how you communicate in your workplace. Be mindful of the words and tones you use. Consider how they align with your spiritual principles? Then, ask yourself, ‘How can you mindful express your point in a way that lifts and improve your business relationships and productivity
3. Maintain a Positive Attitude
Attitudes are contagious. So, consider how you present yourself and how you approach conflict. After all, a positive attitude influences the workplace in an uplifting, productive matter. So, consider the situation and how to best approach it. If you are angry, frustrated, or experiencing negative thoughts or feelings, ask yourself, How is this serving me? How is my attitude adding or improving to the problem? How can your attitude help to create a happy, healthy work environment?
As you can see, by being true to your spiritual side, embracing this part of you, and integrating it into your professional life, you can improve relationships between co-workers and clients, increase productivity while fostering a healthy work environment. More importantly, you will be sharing your authentic self fully without compromising your spiritual principles. So, try incorporating one or all three tips above and share your thoughts with me.
